About the Workshops
Leatherwork School Workshops are a natural progression for Ellen Valentine, following on her book Leatherwork School. While the detailed instruction provided in the book showcases how to make ten projects ranging from beginner to advanced, nothing can take the place of hands-on, in-person instruction in a workshop setting.
Designed Around Core Techniques
The workshops are built around you mastering core techniques: stitching, edge-finishing, cutting and skiving, and findings and gusset installation. These workshops will give you a solid foundation of experience for continuing to design and fabricate your own leathergoods upon return to your own studio.
Workshops are offered in three primary categories: Beginner, Intermediate and Advanced. Topics and fees for each workshop are covered in the workshop detail pages.
Hand Skills Focused
The primary focus of the workshops (and the book) are on hand stitching and building your own repertoire of hand skills. All tools, leathers, findings and patterns to complete the projects are included in the course fee.
Small Class Sizes & Full Service
The courses are limited to just four students, so everyone will get lots of personalized attention. Lunch will be provided as well as a self service refreshments and snack bar. Workshop hours are 9:00am – 5:30pm.

“If you choose to challenge yourself and attend Ellen’s class, you will respect the amount of dedication, detail and commitment invested in what she does. It’s hard to find people/instructors that work this hard! “
